Artifacts

In Dante’s Inferno for Facebook, you can invest your extra souls in Artifacts. Artifacts will then generate souls every hour (or 54 minutes if you are of the Greed class).

There are 5 total artifacts in game that you can purchase: Demon Horns, Enchanted Staff, Plutus’ Treasure, Shield of Dark Heraldry, and Fallen Angel Wings. These artifacts start out as simple versions of themselves and can be upgraded. Upgrades cost a large amount of souls upfront but each upgrade also increases the profit per hour each artifact produces. Additionally, each artifact has 5 levels total and you must upgrade an artifact 5 times for it to reach the next level. In short, each artifact must be upgraded a total of 25 times to reach it’s highest level.

Directly below you will find the raw data for each artifact through all of their upgrades. I will post strategy regarding artifacts below the data list.

Note: Each profit assumes that a minion has been hired.

Note: This list is incomplete. It will be updated several times per week as I uncover more information.

Strategy

One thing of interest is that each time you upgrade an artifact, you can hire one of your Facebook friends as a “minion”. For each minion an artifact has, it gets a 5% increase in total profitability, and this appears to stack with each upgrade. As a result, each time you upgrade an artifact, it increases in value exponentially (albeit slowly).

For example, consider the Lowly Demon Horn:

At “Upgraded: 5 out of 5″, the Lowly Demon Horn produces 371 souls per hour. To get to this level, a player would have had to invested 90,000 coins into this artifact. This would take 243 hours (or just over 10 days) for the player to get his money back and start turning a profit.

Contrast that to a Lowly Demon Horn at the first level which pays out 61 souls per hour at a cost of 18,000 souls. For this item, it would take 295 hours for the player to get his money back. Clearly the fully upgraded Humble Minion Horn is a better investment than a partially upgraded Humble Demon Horn.

The result of this is that makes upgrading artifacts much more profitable than simply purchasing all of the artifacts and leaving them unupgraded. For monetary purposes, focus on a single artifact and try to upgrade it fully rather than splitting between different artifacts. The one exception to this is if you are just buying an artifact to unlock a job requirement.

This list will be updated as I upgrade my artifacts and collect more information.
