When you first start out in Dante’s Inferno, you have to pick between three classes: Anger, Greed, and Lust. As a new player, odds are you will have no idea how this decision will affect your game play, and unfortunately, this choice is permanent (at least for now).

For those that have yet to pick their class, this post will thoroughly explain which class you should pick (given your situation) and why. For players that have already picked their class, hopefully you will gain an understanding about how you can leverage your choice in your favor. While this topic was covered briefly in the tutorial, I am going to elaborate on my suggestion to play a Lust class type.

Anger

Anger players regenerate vigor 10% faster than players of other classes. Vigor is used in fights, and you can very easily use a lot of it. I think that for players who plan on fighting regularly, anger is a decent class. Here’s why:

In Dante’s Inferno, the cost (in vigor) for starting a battle scales with the quality of your opponent. As a result, battles can cost huge amounts of vigor, much more than missions cost energy at similar levels. Plus, if you want to battle, you will need stat points in attack (and probably some in defense and health), so your stats will be spread very thin between energy, vigor, attack, defense, and health.

Recommendation: A bit of extra virtue can go a long way for someone who likes to battle. If you are a “once an hour” type player and battle frequently, this would not be a bad choice. However, Lust is also a viable option, as I will explain below.

Greed

Greed players generate souls faster from artifacts. While normal players can collect souls from their artifacts once every hour, players of the Greed class can collect souls once every 54 minutes. In other words, greed players produce souls from artifacts 10% faster.

Recommendation: No matter what your playstyle, this is not a good choice. If you want to get a lot of money, you should see the Lust section.

Lust

Lust characters regenerate energy 10% faster than other classes. This allows characters of this class to complete missions at a slightly faster rate than other classes. For most players, Lust will be the best class choice as it is by far the most flexible and powerful. Here’s why:

Lust players are able to do missions more frequently then players of other classes. This class is so valuable because the game itself is driven by missions. If you can do missions more often, you can earn more souls, level up more often, and get new loot pieces more often. Even if you want to build a good fighting character, you could use a Lust class-type to finish missions quickly. This would earn your character loot and levels, which would make him better at fighting.

Additionally, since items found in missions sell for so much, the lust class can theoretically product a significantly larger amount of money by doing more jobs and collecting more items. These items can then be sold for souls.

And of course, Lust is the natural choice for any player who simply wants to finish the content of Dante’s Inferno as quickly as possible.
However, none of these classes provides such a significant advantage to warrant a restart. The 10% advantage in energy regeneration that the Lust class enjoys is not an insurmountable disadvantage for other players, so if you picked another class, there is no need to restart.
